Homeopathy is a safe, gentle, and effective system of medicine that seeks to stimulate the body's own natural healing capacity. Widespread throughout Europe, India, Africa, Central and South America, it is experiencing a dramatic renaissance in the United States and Canada. It has been clinically proven through two centuries of use.
Conventional medicine typically views symptoms as something wrong and tries to suppress or eliminate them (uses of drugs or surgery). By contrast, homeopathy considers the symptoms of the disease and the body's attempt to restore balance, however uncomfortable the effort. The goal of homeopathy is to understand and treat the root cause for the problem, not to mask its existence.
What is treated in homeopathy is referred to as "the vital force," - the underlying life force in each person. Mental, emotional and physical symptoms are all considered an expression of this vital force. In this type of medicine, the patient is the one healing himself. A remedy is just a catalyst to stimulate the body's own innate self-healing ability.
How do homeopathic remedies work?
Homeopathic remedies work by helping the body heal itself. The human body is equipped with its own healing system that repairs and preserves structure and functions. This same healing system maintains a healthy and harmonious balance between mind, body, and spirit. Based on this fact, homeopathy is designed to stimulate and support the body's healing mechanism and help maintain health.
Homeopathic remedies are prescribed by symptoms rather than conditions, as each case of illness can manifest differently. 20 patients with the same medical diagnosis would likely receive 20 different homeopathic remedies, based on the uniqueness of their make-up.
What are homeopathic remedies?
Homeopaths prescribe homeopathic remedies, not nutritional supplements, herbs or vitamins. Homeopathic remedies are mainly made from the three kingdoms in nature: plants, minerals and animals (usually the milk or the venom). At this point in time there are over 3,500 homeopathic remedies and this number will increase in the future. All remedies are prepared by FDA regulated homeopathic pharmacies.
What are the benefits of Homeopathy?
Homeopathy can be used in first aid or emergency situations, temporary illness, and long-term chronic conditions, as well as in emotional problems. It also can be useful as a preventive medicine for strengthening the body or to give you more freedom of movement in the area of life where you might feel “stuck.” For example a remedy can help with a painful knee that prevents you from walking as well as with a lack of confidence that prevents you from doing things.
Homeopathy can treat and speed up the healing of such injuries as sprains and bruises, broken bones, minor burns, skin irritations, surgery, insect stings/bites, and teething or tooth pain.
Homeopathy can help with temporary illness such as cold, flu, and cough or with conditions such as morning sickness or other illnesses during pregnancy. Relief is often achieved more quickly than with conventional drugs.
Homeopathy is beneficial for many autoimmune diseases such as gastrointestinal disorders, skin conditions, recurring ear infections, chronic fatigue syndrome, migraines, asthma, allergies, hormonal disorders, depression, behavior disorders, and arthritis. Since homeopathy treats the person, not the disease, it can address a wide range of disorders. Even in advanced cases, where curative treatment isn't possible, homeopathy may prove effective in improving your quality of life.

Can I take homeopathic remedies at the same time as my regular medications?
Absolutely. It is recommended that you continue taking the medications that have been prescribed for your illness or condition. However, it is best not to take something new at the same time as starting a homeopathic remedy so that the effects of the remedy can be clearly evaluated. It is also best not to make any major changes in your diet or vitamin/supplement regime when starting a new remedy.
What does a homeopathic consultation consist of?
The initial visit is 2-3 hours (less than 2 for children) and is solely verbal. This initial consultation is used to listen closely to your unique experience of life – physical, emotional and mental – and to find the remedy that best “resonates” with your health concerns.
The initial consultation is followed by 2-3 weeks of research and analyses, after which the remedy is prescribed.
What do a follow-up visits consist of?
The first follow-up visit is scheduled one month after the remedy is taken. Subsequent visits are scheduled 4-6 weeks apart or more according to the case. Follow-up visits last 1 hour and consist of refining the choice and potency of the remedy.
